What do Gandalf, the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean, sword fights, knights, and flaggons of mead have to do with the Renaissance? Squat. I wish I could go, just to provide the historical commentary. It's like Einstein and Hammurabi flying around in a hot air balloon on Futurama:

I went to a couple of renaissance (sp) festivals in years past. They really are like no other cultural events, you know? People REALLY get into it.
